Polish journalists are calling to equate russian propagandists to war criminals
29.08.2022The Chief Council of the Association of Polish Journalists (SDP) called to convict russian propagandists as war criminals. This was said in their official statement released on August 24.
Polish journalists are convinced that world journalist organisations and national media associations should constantly press democratic governments and international institutions to prepare tribunals not only for the outlaws of russian army but also for russian propagandists that encourage the aggression against Ukraine in Kremlin media and try to justify mass murders, rapes and robberies.
“Time and time again we demand to hold both the outlaws in russian uniform and russian “journalists”-propagandists accountable for the crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians. The latter not only poison the world public opinion regarding russian aggression against Ukraine with their disinformation. They make people fight against Ukrainians in the name of Putin’s imperial interests,” pointed out in the statement.
The Association calls everyone to convict russian propagandists “that pretend to be journalists” as war criminals. Among those “journalists” they name Margarita Simonyan, Vladimir Solovyov, Dmitri Kiselyov, Olga Skabeyeva. Polish journalists consider them “liars and raiders who pretend to be journalists”.
They also point out that the list is incomplete, since there are no free media in russia.
“Fraud, disinformation, but first and foremost hate speech, murders of civilians in an independent state will never be deemed as journalism and russian propaganda centers will never become the media,” sums up the statement.
The statement is signed by:
- Krzysztof Skowroński, the President of SDP
- Jolanta Hajdasz, the Vice President of SDP
- Mariusz Pilis, the Vice President of SDP
- Hubert Bekrycht, the Secretary General of SDP
- Aleksandra Tabaczyńska, the Accountant of SDP.
It shall be reminded that Ukrainian journalists also demanded tribunal for russian propagandists.
