Oleh Kotsarev

Writer, journalist, literary critic and translator. Born in 1981 in Kharkiv. The author of poetry books «Short and Long» (2003), «DAY AND NIGHT!» (2007, co-authored with Bohdan-Oleh Horobchuk and Pavlo Korobchuk), «My First Knife» (2009), «Coincidence of Yahotyn», «What Time It Is» (2013), «Circus» (2015), «Flowing Rivers (2015, co-authored with Taras Prokhasko), «Black Bread, White Whale», «Contents of men’s pockets» (2021), the book of short prose «Incredible Story of the Rule of Chlorophytum I» (2009) and the novel «People In The Nests» (2017). Publications in literary magazines and anthologies in Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Belarus, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Israel, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Slovakia, Lithuania, USA. His poems have been translated into Bengal, Belarus, English, German, Hebrew, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, French, Czech, and Swedish. Together with Julia Stakhivska, Oleh is a complier of «Ukrainian Avant-garde Poetry of 1910–1930s» anthology. He is a compiler (jointly with Iryna Zabiiaka) of the book of Ukrainian translations «A Walk around the Brewery» of the Czech poet Ivan Wernisch. Laureate of «Smoloskyp» and «Molode Vyno» literary awards, Valerian Pidmohylnyi Prize, poetry festival «Kyiv Lavra», «Courier of Kryvbas» journal. He is also a laureate of the «METAPHORA» Prize for translation of the Czech poet Ivan Wernisch jointly with Iryna Zabiiaka. Oleh is a member of PEN Ukraine. Oleh participated in literary scholarships funded by «Willa Decjusza» (Poland, 2007) and «Ventspils House» (Latvia, 2015).
