About us
CHYTOMO
is the largest independent media covering publishing and contemporary literary and cultural processes in Ukraine.
Our goal
When Russia began its full-scale invasion in 2022, we launched Chytomo’s English-language platform to speak to international audiences about Ukrainian culture in wartime.
Today, we also cover cultural developments across Eastern Europe — especially stories connected to resistance against imperialism and the preservation of cultural identity.

Chytomo («Читомо») is an independent media outlet whose legal and operational activities are supported by a non-governmental organization "CULTURAL PUBLISHING PROJEKT "CHYTOMO" («Культурно-видавничий проект “Читомо”»), registered address: Ukraine, 02232, Kyiv, Mayakovskoho Ave, 72.
NGO "CULTURAL PUBLISHING PROJEKT "CHYTOMO" is registered in the Register of Non-Profit Institutions and Organizations pursuant to the DFS (SFS, State Fiscal Service of Ukraine) controlling authority decision № 1726524600653 dated November 01, 2017.
The Organization's main goal is to satisfy and protect the legitimate social, economic, cultural, creative and other common rights and interests of the Organization's members and to promote the socio-cultural development of society.
The Organization's main activity areas are:
- Participating in the creation of democratic, economic, legal, social and environmental conditions, guaranteed provision of social and cultural protection of the population.
- Supporting the Organization's members in their advancement as conscious, spiritually and physically developed citizens.
- Supporting the intellectual and professional development of the Organization's members.
- Studying and supporting the popularization of Ukrainian and foreign culture, literature, publishing tradition.
- Supporting the organization and holding of cultural festivals and events.
- Supporting the organization and holding of conferences, round tables, seminars, trainings, information exchange programs, educational, exhibition, information events, social advertising campaigns in order to study, disseminate and implement world, European and national experience in the field of culture.
- Supporting the organization of book, literary, local history, environmental, scientific, tourist, cultural, folklore and local history expeditions, hikes in Ukraine and beyond.
- Engaging in media and publishing activities to enhance public cultural awareness.
- Supporting the implementation of foreign experience in Ukrainian publishing and the representation and promotion of Ukrainian achievements at the international level.
