The Lviv Municipal Art Library has received a shipment of almost half a ton (almost 1000 pounds) of English-language books from London, United Kingdom.

The collection includes more than 500 art books, albums, catalogs, works of fiction, and books on art history and artists. According to the library, this donation was made possible by a visit from Charlotte Higgins, during which she promised to enrich the library’s art collection.

“We have waited a long time to share this news,” said the library. “And now, we can. Some of these books are already on our shelves.”

A letter from Charlotte Higgins is available:

Additional donors include Gagosian Gallery, British artist Stuart Shave of Modern Art, American designer Maureen Paley, Scottish writer Ali Smith, and others.

Charlotte Higgins is a British writer, journalist, and chief culture writer for The Guardian.
