Forbes: The most profitable bookstores in 2024

Forbes announced its list of the most profitable bookstores in Ukraine of 2024. It turned out that Knyharnya Ye is the most profitable bookstore chain in the country this year.

 

Other profitable book retailers include Yakaboo, Bukva, Knigoland, and Sens. In 2024, Knyharnya Ye managed to earn UAH 1.04 billion. In total, the nine largest retailers earned UAH 2.2 billion over the year. Almost half of this revenue belongs to Knyharnya Ye which has 88 stores in the chain (the other book retailers have about 90 stores in total).

 

Yakaboo online bookstore ranks second with a revenue of UAH 586.1 million. Bukva, Knigoland, Sens, Readeat, book.ua, and community bookstores Siaivo and Budynok Knyhy earned over UAH 580 million in revenue.

 

Ihor Zarudko, director of the Knigoland book chain, stated that in 2023, online sales made up 12% of revenue, while in 2024, this share increased to 25%. In a comment to Forbes, Dmytro Feliksov, founder of the Readeat bookstore, attributes the increase in revenue to UAH 77.9 million to investments and experiments with marketing strategies. In 2024, the online bookstore’s sales grew 14 times.
