The Lithuanian Publishers Association (LLA) announced the appointment of a new head.

Lolita Varanavičienė, who was the head of the association for many years, resigned after the Vilnius Book Fair. The organization will now be headed by Dovilė Zaidė, director of the Alma littera publishing house.

“Leading the Lithuanian Publishers Association is a great responsibility and, at the same time, a unique opportunity to implement crucial projects in the field of book publishing. We have a strong publishers’ community, strategic partnerships, and a common goal to expand the role of literature in society. Books can be not only a space of peace, but a source of inspiration, the shaping of patriotism, and the struggle for ideals,” Zaidė said.

Zaidė emphasized that uniting the efforts and working together on common goals is crucial to the development of the book publishing industry. Zaidė also expressed her readiness to share her experience and support colleagues in implementing large-scale initiatives.

Zaidė also mentioned that strategic partnerships are key to the development of the book industry and called for active cooperation. She added that the association has an important mission to represent the interests of Lithuanian publishers in the international arena.

“The Lithuanian Publishers Association manages important projects such as the Vilnius Book Fair, Lietuva skaito, the Book Square during the Capital Days festival, and the Book Awards. All these initiatives require constant development, strengthening, and expansion of cooperation with new partners. People who love and read books are of great importance for us,” Zaidė added.

The Lithuanian Publishers Association is an independent organization that brings together 56 publishing houses. Its mission is to promote book publishing, protect the interests of publishers, and foster the culture of literature and reading both in Lithuania and internationally.
