Anthology of modern Ukrainian literature to be published in Sweden
24.08.2022In Sweden, the literary anthology Under Ukraine’s Open Sky will be published. This was announced on the website of the book’s publisher Ariel Förlag.
Under Ukraine’s Open Sky is the first Ukrainian literary anthology in Swedish in 30 years. It features plays, diary entries, essays, and poetry.
Among the authors there are Serhiy Zhadan, Oksana Zabuzhko, Daryna Hladun, Volodymyr Yermolenko, Halyna Kruk, Irena Karpa, Kateryna Kalytko, Iya Kiva, Lesyk Panasiuk, Yuliia Musakovska, Natalka Vorozhbyt and others. The complete list of contributors and translators is presented here.
“During these six months of russian genocidal warfare in Ukraine, we have been working translating and publishing Ukrainian literary voices from inside the catastrophe. Those voices have now been collected into the anthology Under Ukraine’s Open Sky, which will very soon reach us from our Latvian printing house. Tomorrow, marking both the Independence day and the six months of invasion, we will start the launching of it in Sweden,” mentioned the contributor and publisher .
Under Ukraine’s Open Sky will be published in collaboration with Swedish PEN.
The pre-orders starton Ukrainian Independence Day (August 24). Two formats will be available — for 250 Swedish Krona and for 500 Swedish Krona. Half the proceeds for 500 Krona editions will be donated to promote solidarity and cooperation between Swedish PEN and Ukraine.
The anthology is expected to hit the shelves in mid-September.
