Andriy Kurkov’s novel received the Prix Médicis in France

Andriy Kurkov’s book “Grey Bees” was awarded the Prix Médicis, national award in France, for the best foreign work. This is reported by foreign media.

The book was translated into French by Paul Lequesne (Liana Levi). It was published by LEVI publishing house. The book has 400 pages and costs 23 euros.

“Grey Bees” is a novel published in 2018 by the Ukrainian Folio publishing house. The novel tells about the life of people during the war in Eastern Ukraine.

The literary prize Prix Médicis was established in France in 1958. Its founder is the playwright, poet and novelist Jean-Pierre Giradoux.

Andriy Kurkov is a Ukrainian author of 19 novels, including the bestselling Death and the Penguin, nine books for children, and about 20 documentary, fiction and TV movie scripts. His works are currently translated into 37 languages and published in 65 countries.

It shall be reminded that in the Netherlands, the novel “Grey Bees” by Andriy Kurkov took first place in the top ten sales, overtaking the novel “Fairy Tale” by the American writer Stephen King.

It’s also known that Andriy Kurkov’s novel “Grey Bees” is being adapted into a film.
