Opportunity: Nairobi International Book Fair announced a fellowship program

eKitabu has announced the inaugural professional fellowship program Nairobi International Book Fair (NIBF) Ambassadors in collaboration with the Kenya Publishers Association and the African Publishers Network (APNET).

 

The fellowship takes place 27th September – 1st October 2023. The organizers are seeking the participants who are interested in buying rights from African publishers and writers in the adult fiction/non-fiction and children’s genres.

 

NIBF Ambassador fellowships cover travel to Nairobi and accommodation during NIBF. Ambassadors will participate in rights buying and selling workshops, speed dating sessions with publishers and authors, cultural and social networking events throughout NIBF. “We will also welcome your ideas for sessions you might offer to lead, any specific goals you have for your involvement, and ways to make NIBF a success for everyone involved”, — announcement says.

The Nairobi International Book Fair serves as the prominent regional marketplace for books, uniting publishing professionals, authors, booksellers, print suppliers, media, and readers from Africa and various parts of the globe. With a successful history of 23 years, the NIBF has evolved into a preeminent book exhibition venue in the region. The event is organised by the Kenya Publishers Association.

African Publishers Network (APNET) is a pan-African, non-profit, collaborative network that exists to connect African publishing associations. It was founded by think-tank African publishers from 9 countries at a conference in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1992.
