‘Uyava Chronicle’ journal with Ukrainian poetry in English and Hindi to launch

American indie publisher house River Paw Press is launching an annual illustrated periodical of Ukrainian poetry in English and Hindi called the Uyava Chronicle.

“It is with immense joy and anticipation we at River Paw Press announce the birth of Uyava Chronicle, a landmark initiative of a visionary biannual journal of Ukrainian poetry in Hindi and English,” says the press release published on the web site of the publisher.

Founding editor and Indian-American poet, a Pushcart-Prize nominated, award-winning Indian-American poet,Indian American poet “Love Letters to Ukraine from Uyava,”

The founder and editor of River Paw Press, Kalpna Singh-Chitnis, a Pushcart-Prize nominated, award-winning Indian-American poet, will work on the online periodical with a small team of publishers.  The first edition of which will be released on Oct. 27, Ukrainian Writing and Language Day.

Here’s how she described the mission of the chronicle:

“English, the largest, and Hindi, the third largest spoken language in the world, will bring Ukrainian poetry closer to the Hindi-speaking populace in India and beyond, and also to English-speaking readers around the world to promote cultural diplomacy through languages and literature. Throughout history, the Ukrainian language and literature have faced periods of suppression and marginalization, particularly during the Soviet era, both within its native landscape and in regions… This backdrop of historical injustice inspires our mission at Uyava Chronicle. Uyava Chronicle isn’t just a magazine; it is yet another home for Ukrainian poetry, where every reader from all corners of the world will find a poem echoing the heartbeats of Ukraine, and its cultural resistance.”
