Almost 4 million hryvnias were raised at the auction selling Lina Kostenko’s signed books

A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ha publishing house together with the volunteer Serhiy Prytula held a campaign selling Lina Kostenko’s signed books and raised around 4 mln hryvnas for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by Serhiy Prytula on his Facebook page.

“We are grateful to anyone who donated! Together we managed to raise 3 990 981 hryvnias for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This money will be spent on purchase of the UAVs Fury for an intelligence division,” posted Prytula.

In the comments to the volunteer’s post, the founder and director of the publishing house, Ivan Malkovych wrote: “Thank you my friend Serhiy for a brilliant action! 399 thousand hryvnas for each of ten books written by the queen of Ukrainian poetry with her autographs – it’s an unprecedented event in the history of Ukrainian literature indeed!!!”

Among the books provided for sale were Marusya Churai, Notes of a Ukrainian Madman and Three Hundred Poems.

Lina Kostenko is a Ukrainian poet, journalist, writer, publisher, and former Soviet dissident. A founder and leading representative of the Sixtiers poetry movement, Kostenko has been described as one of Ukraine’s foremost poets and credited with reviving Ukrainian-language lyric poetry. Kostenko has been granted numerous honours, including an honorary professorship at Kyiv Mohyla Academy, honorary doctorates of Lviv and Chernivtsi Universities, and the Shevchenko National Prize, Legion of Honour.

It shall be reminded that earlier this month Serhiy Prytula sent a book The History Of Ukrainian State by Roman Pinyazhko to Elon Musk as a response to the businessman’s infamous tweet about peace solution for Ukraine.

It’s also been reported that the writer and port Lina Kostenko has received the National Order of the Legion of Honor of France this year.
