Czech publishing house Argo presented the book “Nevzdáme se. Sbírka povídek pro bojující Ukrajinu” (“We will not give up. A collection of short stories for the struggling Ukraine”). This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic on its Facebook page.

The publication consists of short stories by Czech writers. Among them: Julie Nováková, Jiří Padevět, Dalibor Vácha, Michal Kubal, Pavel Bartáček, Pavel Koudelka, Václav Syruček, Milada Střítezská, Martin Šinkovský, Bohdan Dlouhý, Zbyněk Moravec, Aleš Dvořák, Markéta Kadlecová, Irena Moravcová, Petr Sýkora, Mauser de Vader.

“The idea to publish a collection of short stories arose in a discussion on Twitter, where Czech authors were discussing how to most effectively help Ukraine in its fight against Russian occupiers. In the end, they agreed that the best way to support Ukrainian literature is to transfer money to the army. And the only way they can earn these funds is to publish a “charity” book,” the embassy said.

All proceeds from the sale of the book will be transferred to the special account of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic to cover the military needs of the Ukrainian army.

It shall be reminded that this year’s festival Month of Author’s Readings in Brno opened with the evening of Ukrainian poetry.
