More than 500 schools in Ukraine damaged since the start of Russia’s full-scale war

Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russian occupation forces have damaged 518 schools, 72 of which have been destroyed completely. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has launched the website to track the damage caused to Ukraine’s education system.   

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has collected numerous photos refuting Russia’s claim that they are only targeting military facilities. He evidence shows that Russian forces are destroying schools and universities, kindergartens and orphanages.

 

Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet said that some schools have been «swept off the face of the earth».

 

He stressed that all schools will be rebuilt after Ukraine’s victory, but their destruction will never be forgotten. 

 

«I am confident that despite the most difficult obstacles, the Ukrainian nation will become stronger and more united», – Shkarlet added. 

 

Аn interactive map on the website shows the number of schools damaged and destroyed in each region of Ukraine. 

 

In the Kyiv region alone, 45 schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions have been damaged or destroyed.
