Open Call: Homines Urbani Residency in Kraków

Writers and literary translators from Poland, Ukraine, and German-speaking countries are invited to apply for the next edition of Homines Urbani, an international residency programme designed to foster dialogue and focused creative work.

 

The residency is open to authors, poets, essayists, and literary translators from Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland who have published at least one book. The programme offers uninterrupted time and a supportive professional context, while strengthening the Polish–Ukrainian–German literary exchange in a practical and sustainable way.

 

Selected participants will spend 30 days in Kraków between 1 June and 30 September 2025, staying at the historic Łaski House at Willa Decjusza.

  • Residency period: 30 days in Kraków (1 June – 30 September 2026)
  • Location: Willa Decjusza / Łaski House, Kraków
  • Honorarium: PLN 6,000 gross
  • Travel reimbursement: up to PLN 1,000
  • Support: organisational and curatorial support throughout the residency
  • Outcome: publication opportunity in the trilingual literary magazine Radar (original text and translations)

 

The application deadline is 15 March 2026. Results will be announced on 31 March 2026.

Homines Urbani is an international literary residency programme run by Willa Decjusza in Kraków, aimed at writers and translators from Poland, Ukraine, and German-speaking countries. Participants receive a one-month residency and financial support to develop literary projects and present their work.
