Harvard University has opened a call for applications for the position of professor of Ukrainian literature and culture, according to the official website of the institution.

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures plans to appoint a tenure-track or tenured professor. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2024. The selected professor is expected to be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, typically two courses per semester (including freshman seminars, survey courses, and advanced seminars).

“We are seeking an energetic colleague committed to building our program in Ukrainian studies, introducing undergraduates to the study of this part of the world, advising advanced work with graduate students, working with our full-time Preceptor of Ukrainian language, and connecting Ukrainian studies to other disciplines and regions in creative ways,” the description says.

This is a great opportunity to present Ukraine’s multiethnic culture and history to both undergraduates and graduate students. As indicated in the description, candidates may specialize in any area of Ukrainian literature and culture.
