The dates of the literary and translation festival TRANSLATORIUM have been announced

The sixth literary and translation festival TRANSLATORIUM will take place in Khmelnytskyi at the end of September.

The festival will unite creative energy and innovative ideas to find the ways to speak that go beyond traditional verbal means, festival organizers noted.

The mission of the festival is to promote literature and translation by holding a cultural event in order to contribute to the development of the professional community in general and each person in particular. In the programme: discussions, lectures, book presentations, meetings with translators, and art and musical projects.

“Conversation is the key to understanding. Silence is also a conversation, but it needs to be translated,” says Yulia Didokha, co-founder and program curator of the festival, pointing out the importance of creating new ways of communication in an environment where it is difficult to find the right words. 2023 TRANSLATORIUM festival aims to expand the boundaries of expression, and to show that silence is an important and also an additional form of communication.

Organizers of the festival state it will provide a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in experimental art, where silence turns into a powerful tool of expression. “Taking place in a friendly and professional environment, TRANSLATORIUM 2023 will be a platform to explore how our experiences, which cannot always be expressed in words, can be recreated through various artistic disciplines,” the festival team says.

The festival will take place on Sept. 29-30.

TRANSLATORIUM is the only literature and translation festival for now in Ukraine, which is dedicated to literary translation and the International Translator’s Day. The festival takes place in Khmelnytskyi at the end of September – beginning of October every year since 2017.

However, in 2022 TRANSLATORIUM presented a Ukrainian program at the translation festival translationale berlin in Germany.
