The Old Lion Publishing House has been shortlisted for the Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the Year. This is reported on the official page of the award.

In total, the list includes 30 publishers from 6 parts of the world – Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

This is the first time a Ukrainian publishing house has been shortlisted in Bologna.

“This nomination is an achievement not only for the publishing house and Ukraine, but also for everyone who has contributed to making Ukrainian book publishing visible in the world. This is an achievement of all of us, people in the industry. I realize that we became visible to the world because of the war as well. I will never write ‘thanks to’. And it is our duty and responsibility to turn this visibility into a benefit for the country, into another step towards victory and towards making us visible on the world map,” said Oksana Ziobro, Head of Marketing and Public Relations at The Old Lion, on her personal Facebook page.

The winners will be announced and the prize will be awarded during this year’s Bologna Book Festival on March 6-9.

The Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the Year is the world’s largest annual award for publishers of children’s literature. It was founded in 2013 by the organizers of the Bologna Book Fair to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the fair. In 2023, the prize will be awarded for the eleventh time.

The organizers of the award: The Bologna Book Fair, the Association of Italian Publishers (AIE) and the International Publishers Association (IPA).

As a reminder, 5 Ukrainian illustrators were shortlisted for The Illustrators Exhibition in Bologna.
