The Ukrainian Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Wikimedia Ukraine launched the annual Ukraine’s Cultural Diplomacy Month 2024 which will take place from March 1 to March 31.

This campaign aims to expand Wikimedia articles about Ukrainian culture in various languages, making the most of the platform’s global accessibility.

Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, said the project, which began in 2021, has successfully combated Russia’s attempts to distort Ukrainian history. The fourth edition has produced over 6,000 unique articles in multiple languages and helped to foster a diverse Wikimedia community.

Ilya Korniyko, Chairman of the Board of Wikimedia Ukraine, invited global contributors and encouraged Ukrainians proficient in foreign languages to join. She highlighted Wikipedia’s inclusive editing nature.

This year focuses on Ukrainian artists in cinema, music, literature, architecture, and design. Volodymyr Sheiko, Director General of the Ukrainian Institute, emphasized the campaign’s role in reclaiming Ukraine’s cultural heritage and presenting its authentic narrative to the world.
