At least 120 Ukrainian libraries have lost books because of the russian invasion

The holdings of 122 Ukrainian libraries have been damaged because of the full-scale russian invasion, according to the results of a survey* by the Yaroslav Mudryi National Library of Ukraine  announced at a meeting of the Council for Library Development. 

101 libraries have lost part of their holdings and 21 libraries have lost every single document in their collection.

As of late May, the russian army had destroyed at least 4 public libraries and damaged 35 book collections. 

 

* 23% of all public libraries in Ukraine (549 city, 182 town, 1996 village) took part in the survey.
