Estonian Booklover of the Year Award announces its laureate
18.02.2025
On Feb. 13, 2025, the Tallinn Literary Center was announced the winner of the Estonian Booklover of the Year Award, as reported on the website of the Estonian Publishers’ Association.
The Tallinn Literary Center received the award for its rich program that values cultural heritage and contemporary literature, as well as for organizing the Kadriorg Literature Street Festival.
“The festival provides an opportunity for readers, publishers, authors, translators and editors to come together in a pleasant atmosphere. They can recall the past and discuss their new ideas. We are grateful to the Tallinn Literary Center for organizing this amazing festival,” Kadri Rahusaar, Board Member of the Estonian Publishers’ Association and Editor-in-Chief of Koolibri Publishing House, said.
The laureate is traditionally awarded with the title “Booklover of the Year” and receives a package of books as a gift — the best books of the year — from 30 members of the Estonian Publishers’ Association, as well as a recognition prize.
“This award and recognition gives our small but dedicated team great satisfaction and inspires us to continue organizing the festival with all the crazy ideas, and to continue preserving and popularizing our literary heritage,” director of the Tallinn Literary Center Maarja Vaino commented.
The Booklover of the Year Award is an Estonian literary prize established by the Estonian Publishers’ Association in 2014. The Booklover of the Year title is given to an individual or organization that has made significant achievements or drawn attention to literature and publishing.
