The Austrian poetry slam scene will help to create opportunities for Ukrainian poets to leave for Austria. Poet Kateryna Ventu reported about it in a letter to Pavlo Korobchuk.

«We will be happy to develop a concept for applying for EU funding to invite as many slammers and poets from Ukraine as possible to come to Austria», – she wrote.

Kateryna also noted that she works with other European poetry slam scenes in order to organize international tours, translations of texts, etc. for Ukrainian literary figures. She said that the Slovak and German scenes have announced their participation in the initiative, and the idea  is being considered by Belgium.

Another option for leaving the country suggested by Kateryna Ventu is a mobility grant for individual artists and cultural professionals in the eastern countries of the EU4Culture.

Slam is reading poetry, the essence of which is not only in the concept of poetry, but also in the way it is read. Slam tournaments are competitions for poets in artistic reading. It is a combination of art and sports. Competitions are held with the announcement of ratings randomly selected from among the jury members, with clear timetables and penalties for violating the rules.

It will be recalled that the Polish Association of Writers Unia Literacka calls on the Ministry of Culture of Poland to create scholarships for Ukrainian writers in the country. The Polish Book Institute also expressed its solidarity with Ukrainian citizens.
