Refugees from Ukraine are housed in the pavilion of the Romexpo exhibition center in northern Bucharest. This was reported by Romanian media.

In the exhibition center there was organized a dining room and 2,000 beds were placed. In addition, there is also an area for mothers with children and a playground. At the center, they can live with pets.

The mayor of the Romanian capital, Nicușor Dan, said that the center is equipped with everything necessary, but it will be used if other shelters in Bucharest are overcrowded.

«It’s a backup center. Now, we have 4,300 places (for refugees) in Bucharest, of which about 2,500 are occupied. And there would be another 2 thousand, just in case. We hope they will not be needed, but if necessary, we have prepared this space», — he added.

We note that the Romexpo exhibition center is the largest in Romania and a traditional venue for the largest Romanian book festival BookFest Bucharest. This year it will take place from 1 to 5 June. Japan will be the special guest.

As reported, Austria also provides assistance to Ukrainian refugee artists, and British publishers collect items for children from Ukraine.
