Lumos Foundation has raised almost one million pounds to help Ukrainian children, the organization’s founder, writer J.K. Rowling, tweeted.

The foundation will provide food, medicine and trauma counseling to children in orphanages.

Rowling launched the appeal to help Ukrainian children three months ago.

Her children’s charity Lumos – named after a magical spell from Harry Potter – began working in Ukraine in 2013. On February 25, 2022 they set a goal of raising 1 million pounds for Ukrainian orphans.

Earlier this month, Rowling predicted that Kalush Orchestra would win the Eurovision song contest.

Ukrainian editions of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books are now available online for free.
