Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling responded on Twitter to putin’s comments about cancel culture in the West.

«Critiques of Western cancel culture are probably not best made by those currently slaughtering civilians for the crimes of resistance, or who jail and poison their critics», – she posted.

Rowling also shared an article about anti-putin politician Alexei Navalny.

Putin compared the attitude towards russia to the canceling of J.K. Rowling and said the banning of russian writers is akin to censorship in fascist Germany.

«They canceled Joanne Rowling recently, the children’s author. Her books are published all over the world…just because she didn’t satisfy the demands of gender rights. They are now trying to cancel our country. I’m talking about the progressive discrimination of everything to do with Russia», – he said on russian TV.

J.K. Rowling has launched an appeal to help 100,000 children trapped in orphanages in Ukraine during the war. Her children’s charity Lumos – named after a magical spell from Harry Potter – began working in Ukraine in 2013. On February 25, 2022 they set a goal of raising 1 million pounds for Ukrainian orphans.
