It should be mentioned that in 2018, Atwood was among the signatories of a letter demanding the release of Oleg Sentsov who was illegally imprisoned by Russia.
Margaret Atwood is a Canadian writer, feminist, poet, literary critic, and environmental activist. She is best known as the author of the anti-utopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale (1985) about sexual and reproductive violence against women in post-apocalyptic America, which has become a cult favorite for feminism. She is also the winner of the Booker Prize (2019).
