Sumy State University and CUKR.CITY media outlet damaged by Russia’s missile strike on Sumy

The Russian army struck the center of Sumy with two ballistic missiles, reported the regional mlitary administration. The Sumy City Council noted that the enemy attacked civilian infrastructure. Residential buildings and public transportation were damaged.

Current casualty count includes now 83, including seven children. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, from those victims, 21 people have died.

The Sumy State University was damaged, reported Suspilne media. According to a city council spokesperson, an emergency response headquarters has been set up at the site and will work in the bomb shelter of one of the schools. The headquarters will provide counseling for victims and accept applications for inspection of damaged housing.

 

 

The blast wave also took out the editorial office of local media outlet CUKR.CITY. Windows were blown out of the building where their team worked and the ceiling was damaged.

The Sukhanov-Sumovsky estate, an architectural monument built in 1895, was also damaged.

 

As reported earlier, in 2023, the Russian army launched another missile attack on Kherson, causing severe damage to the Oles Honchar Kherson Regional Scientific Library.
