The list of books supported for translation in 2023 has been published

The Ukrainian Book Institute has published a list of books included in the Translate Ukraine 2023 program to support translations of Ukrainian literature into other languages. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian Book Institute (UBI).

The list includes 77 works of Ukrainian literature. Publishers submitted 121 applications for the competitive selection.

 

Among the books selected for translation:

  • Serhiy Zhadan, Anarchy in the UKR — Italian;
  • Serhiy Zhadan, Voroshilovgrad — Croatian, Spanish, and Swedish;
  • Oksana Zabuzhko, Fieldwork in Ukrainian Sex — Hebrew and Estonian;
  • Taras Prokhasko, Anna’s Other Days, FM Galicia, The UnSimple — English;
  • Yuri Andrukhovych, Radio Night — Bulgarian;
  • Oleg Sentsov, Chronicle of a Hunger Striker. 4 and a Half Steps — English;
  • Ostap Slyvynsky, Dictionary of War — Georgian;
  • Artem Chekh, Absolute Zero — Georgian;
  • Maik Yohansen, Doctor Leonardo’s Travels through the Switzerland of Slobidska Ukraine — Polish;
  • Markiyan Kamysh, A stroll to the Zone — Bulgarian;
  • Victoria Amelina, The Fall Syndrome — Bulgarian;
  • Lyubko Deresh, Kult — Arabic;
  • Iryna Tsilyk, Depth of focus — Polish;
  • Vakhtang Kipiani, Feminitive country — German;
  • Olena Stiazhkina, Cecil the Lion Had to Die — English;
  • Svitlana Taratorina, House of salt — Azerbaijani.

 

As part of the project support, UIC will reimburse the participant’s expenses for:

  • acquisition of rights to translate a work of Ukrainian literature into another language and/or payment of remuneration for their use (royalties);
  • creation of an object of intellectual property rights – translation of a work of Ukrainian literature into another language;
  • publication of a work of Ukrainian literature in other languages – editorial processing, preparation of the original layout, creation of an electronic edition.
