The Hemingway Foreign Rights Trust, the literary heritage organization and writer Michael Katakis, has stopped working with publishers from russian federation. This was reported to Chytomo by the Old Lion Publishing House.

Michael Katakis also said that the Hemingway Foreign Rights Trust had suspended negotiations on a new contract with a Serbian publisher due to Serbia’s support for Russia.

Katakis said: «I persuaded Simon & Schuster publishing house not to sell books in russia and not to do anything with them. I will continue to sever relations with any country that currently supports russia, for any reason or justification. I’m trying to contribute here. It is not too much, I know, but it is a sincere statement that I unconditionally support the people of Ukraine not with words, but with words and actions».

He noted that, in his opinion, «the future does not live in America, it lives in Ukraine right now».

«Ukraine reminds my selfish country of what courage, disobedience and decency looks like. We haven’t seen this in the United States for a long time», – Katakis added.

Michael Katakis is a photographer, researcher and writer, administrator of Ernest Hemingway’s literary legacy, and the author of the book «Ernest Hemingway: Artifacts from a life».

We would like to remind you that writers from all over the world, such as Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Rebecca Kwan and others, express support for Ukraine and terminating book contracts with russia.

As we know, Hemingway himself took part in the First World War, his impressions and reflections on the military experience he described in the novels «A Farewell to Arms!», «Fiesta. The Sun Also Rises», «For Whom the Bell Tolls».
