More than 280 thousand Ukrainian books were distributed for free to children and libraries of 20 countries in the framework of the project “Ukrainian books to Ukrainian children!”. This was reported by Olena Zelenska in an interview with the ICTV channel.

“I am happy that this project not only took place, but also keeps going. We have already distributed 280 thousand copies to libraries in more than 20 countries,” she said.

According to Zelenska, she decided to launch such a project when she realized that people who left their homes in the first months of the full-scale invasion were unlikely to put books in their suitcases.

“We have feedback from mothers that Ukrainian books are like a homecoming. And I really want our children, who have been abroad for a long time, not to break away from us and from Ukraine in their studies,” Zelenska noted.

She emphasized that this project was made possible thanks to Ukrainian publishers and authors who provided copyrights to the books for free, and Ukrainian diplomatic missions that were looking for sponsors to print the books abroad.

Recall that during six months, Ukrainian publishers have donated almost 1 million copies of printed products within the campaign “Ukrainian books to Ukrainian children!”.
