Chapter Ukraine named finalist for Responsibility Award
27.01.2026
Chapter Ukraine, the digital platform created by Chytomo and Craft Media, has been shortlisted for the Responsibility Award, established by the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation.
The project reached the finals in the Interaction Without Borders: Ukraine to the World category, which honors initiatives focused on international cooperation, cultural diplomacy, and presenting Ukraine on the international scene.
Chapter Ukraine offers complete information about Ukrainian books available in foreign-language translations. At present, the platform provides lists of books in English, French, German, and Spanish. Alongside basic bibliographic details, the service brings together information on publishers, translators, distributors, reviews, and awards, as well as coverage in international and Ukrainian media.

The Responsibility Award honors civil society organizations and their stories of responsible partnership, which, during the ongoing full-scale invasion, reinforces Ukraine through collaboration and showcases responsibility across various levels. In 2025, 165 stories were nominated for the award, from which the jury formed a shortlist of finalists in three main categories.
The award organizers emphasized that Chapter Ukraine addresses the critical issue of the limited international visibility of Ukrainian literature.
“The initiative promotes Ukraine’s presence in the global cultural scene through cultural diplomacy and educational advocacy. It is a platform that organizes information on Ukrainian books translated into English, German, French, and Spanish, enabling users to compile selections and share them with all the necessary ordering details — a tool that previously did not exist. A global network of volunteers works directly with libraries and bookstores, helping to integrate Ukrainian publications into their collections and create separate Ukraine shelves, decolonizing perceptions and building a sustainable infrastructure for promoting Ukrainian literature around the world,” the annotation on the website reads.
The winners of the award are:
- In History of Responsible Partnership: Communities category: the project “Public Civil Defense: The Skies of Cherkasy Region” by the Cherkasy City Institute.
The shortlist in this category also included Algorithm of Actions and Real History organizations with Urban Vision Lutsk and Pokorshchyna projects accordingly. The long list in this category includes the media outlet Tsukr with its project “Courtyard on Kuznechna: Season of Daring Dreamers.”
- In the National Partnership Project category, the story “Honoring Through Public Spaces: How to Make the Memory of Deceased Ukrainians Visible” by the Memorial organization.
Among the stories on the shortlist are the national exhibition project “Naiv Free” by the Mykola Babak Foundation, the “Trajectory” program by the Poltava Platform organization, and the project “My Community: Together with KERNEL” by the social platform “My City.”
- In the international category “Interaction Without Borders: Ukraine to the World” — the digital platform Strichka with the story “Ukrainian Identity Without Borders: Advocacy of Ukraine’s National Interests for 2025.”
In addition to Chytomo and Craft Media, the shortlist for this nomination included the project “Responsibility to Be” by the NGO “Armenian 35” in the Halytskyi (Galician) district of Lviv.
