Chapter Ukraine on the long list for the Responsibility Award
14.01.2026
Chapter Ukraine digital platform, created by Chytomo and Craft Media, has been longlisted for the Responsibility Award, established by the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation.
Chapter Ukraine offers complete information about Ukrainian books available in foreign-language translations. At present, the platform provides lists of books in English, French, German, and Spanish. Alongside basic bibliographic details, the service brings together information on publishers, translators, distributors, reviews, and awards, as well as coverage in international and Ukrainian media.
The Responsibility Award honors civil society organizations and their stories of responsible partnership, which, during the ongoing full-scale invasion, reinforces Ukraine through collaboration and showcases responsibility across various levels.
Chytomo and Craft Media were recognized in the “Interaction Without Borders: Ukraine to the World” category. The organizers noted that the project addresses the critical issue of the inadequate visibility of Ukrainian literature abroad.

“The initiative promotes Ukraine’s presence in the global cultural scene through cultural diplomacy and educational advocacy. It is a platform that organizes information on Ukrainian books translated into English, German, French, and Spanish, enabling users to compile selections and share them with all the necessary ordering details — a tool that previously did not exist. A global network of volunteers works directly with libraries and bookstores, helping to integrate Ukrainian publications into their collections and create separate Ukraine shelves, decolonizing perceptions and building a sustainable infrastructure for promoting Ukrainian literature around the world.”
Two more projects related to the book sector were included in the longlist of the Responsibility Award:
- The Frontera literary platform with the project “Initiatives for Implementing the Principle of Accessibility in Lutsk’s Cultural Spaces and Events” in the “Stories of Responsible Partnership: Communities” category; and
- the charitable foundation “Library Country” with its project “Informal Coalition of Organizations Addressing the Protection of Rights of Those Affected by Armed Aggression Against Ukraine” in the “National Partnership Project” category.
In addition, in the category “Interaction Without Borders: Ukraine to the World,” the jury recognized the project “Responsibility to Be” from the NGO “Armenian 35” in the Halytskyi (Galician) district of Lviv. The initiative is grounded in Lviv’s journey toward the European Capital of Culture 2030 (ECC) title, the experience of applying for this status, and the preparation of a city program for cultural development.
