Google commits $10 million to fight fakes about the war in Ukraine 

Google has given Ukraine $55 million to fight russian aggression, including fakes about the war in Ukraine, President of Google Europe, Middle East and Africa Matt Brittin said during the Ukrainian Donor Conference in Warsaw.

«We have already committed $35 million in funding and in-kind support to aid relief efforts for those affected by the war in Ukraine, including $10 million to Polish organizations that work with temporarily displaced persons… Yesterday we announced a $1.5 million grant to the International Rescue Committee to expand access to critical information for those impacted by the war in Ukraine», — said Brittin. 

He said that Google would commit a further $10 million for humanitarian support and $10 million to prevent the spread of inaccurate information in the region, which during wartime is a matter of «life and death».

In March, the russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) called on Google “not to censor” russian media on YouTube after the service began blocking russian state media around the world.
