Open call: Book Arsenal Festival launches new fellowship to foster international cooperation with Ukrainian publishing
01.03.2024The International Book Arsenal Festival announces the call for applications for the international audience of book professionals. Up to eight professionals will be selected to participate in the Book Arsenal Fellowship Program. The submission deadline is March 22 inclusive.
Foreign publishers, rights managers, literary agents, and other book industry professionals interested in co-working with Ukraine are invited to participate in the competitive selection. The selected participants will attend the 12th International Book Arsenal Festival (Kyiv, Ukraine), which will be held from May 30 through June 2, 2024, in Kyiv. The Book Arsenal Fellowship Program 2024 will take place despite Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
“The program offers foreign professionals the opportunity to learn more about the Ukrainian book industry, to establish personal contacts with Ukrainian colleagues, and to maintain existing ones. Given that, unfortunately, the participants of the first season of the program will visit Book Arsenal during the full-scale war, we invite those professionals who are ready to respond to the existing challenges by cooperating with Ukrainian publishers and who seek to testify to the special demand for cultural practices, books, and literature through their participating in the program and the festival,” said Oksana Karpiuk, Manager of Programs for Professional Audiences of the International Book Arsenal Festival.
The applicants selected for participation in the program will receive confirmation by April 12. The Book Arsenal Fellowship Program, Kyiv, Ukraine, covers travel expenses and accommodation costs in Kyiv for the duration of the program.
