More than 10,000 secondary schools in Ukraine are working online and nearly 3 million students have resumed their studies, Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet wrote on his Telegram channel.

Instruction resumed for a second week after russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine forced the suspension of the school year. Learning has resumed in 11 regions of Ukraine.

«According to the educational departments of the regional military administrations, more than 10,000 secondary schools are working in distance format. More than 500 schools are still on forced break and the educational process has been suspended in more than 2,400 schools in areas where the security situation remains tense. As of March 21, 2022, nearly 3 million students have resumed their studies», – the minister said.

Serhii Shkarlet added that some 44,000 internally displaced students have joined schools in places where they are temporarily residing. They can do so with the consent of one parent.

The Lviv region has the most internally displaced students – nearly 11,000.

«I thank the heads of the education and science departments of the regional military administrations and every educator for your difficult but extremely important work. In this tremendously difficult time for the country, you are leading the battle on the educational front for the future of Ukrainian education and the generation of a strong, invincible Ukrainian nation», – Shkarlet added.

The education process resumed in some regions of Ukraine on March 14, 2022.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Education together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Institute for Education Development have launched All-Ukrainian School Online – an online platform for distance and mixed learning.
