Special issue of marketing magazine Adweek about Ukraine won the media award in the USA
24.09.2022The special issue of the American trade publication Adweek On Ukraine, By Ukrainians won the international competition Eddie & Ozzie Awards 2022. This was announced on the competition’s website.
The issue received awards in two categories: Full issue — Media & Entertainment and Design, single magazine issue — B2B.
This issue was created entirely by Ukrainian talents whose lives and livelihoods have been upended by war. Such an idea was embodied for the first time in the 43 years of the magazine’s existence.
The issue was staffed by more than 20 Ukrainians working together from around the world.
“This issue is full of insightful essays, interviews and articles about Ukraine’s fascinating and complex past, its bold modern culture and the hopes of the people of Ukraine that they set on the future,” Adweek website stated.
Hanna Rudenko, a journalist of the Ukrainian design publication Telegraf.design, became its editor-in-chief.
In the issue you can find such articles as: “From the Editor: Ukraine’s Creative Resistance”, “How to Understand—and Fall in Love With—Ukrainian Culture”, “The origin story of Ukraine’s creative industry”, “War-Life Balance: How the Lives of Ukrainian Creatives Have Been Reshaped by War”, “How Ukraine’s Creatives Are Helping Win the War and Keeping the World’s Attention”, and others.
The Eddies and Ozzies is the most prestigious recognition program in the publishing community, recognizing excellence in editorial content and design across print and digital media.
Adweek is a weekly American advertising trade publication that was first published in 1979. Adweek covers creativity, client–agency relationships, global advertising, accounts in review, and new campaigns. During this time, it has covered various shifts in technology, including cable television, the shift away from commission-based agency fees, and the Internet.
