The program of Ukraine’s stand at the Vilnius Book Fair is announced

Ukraine will present a 25-square-meter national stand at the Vilnius Book Fair. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian Book Institute.

 

“The Ukrainian stand at the Vilnius Book Fair is an opportunity to thank the citizens and government of friendly Lithuania for their active support of Ukraine since the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the anniversary of which falls on one of the days of the fair. The slogan of the Ukrainian stand is “Persistence of Existence” it is about the efforts that all of us, as well as our foreign partners, are making for our common victory over the aggressor. We are confident that thanks to the Ukrainian stand at the Vilnius Book Fair, Ukrainian publishers will be able to strengthen their contacts with Lithuanian colleagues and establish long-term and fruitful cooperation to publish Ukrainian authors in Lithuania and Lithuanian authors in Ukraine. And Ukrainians who have been granted asylum in Lithuania will be able to find Ukrainian books here,” emphasized Oleksandra Koval, director of the Ukrainian Book Institute.

 

12 Ukrainian publishers will present their books at the stand:

  • Zalizniy tato;
  • 21 Publishers;
  • The Black Sheep;
  • Gerda;
  • The Old Lion Publishing House;
  • Samit-Knyha;
  • Neopalyma Kupyna;
  • Folio;
  • Yakaboo Publishing;
  • Bohdan Publishing House;
  • Baltiya-Druk;
  • Kalamar.

 

Besides, books by other Ukrainian publishers will be presented for visitors to read, as well as books by Ukrainian authors published in Lithuanian by Lithuanian publishers. In total, more than 100 Ukrainian publications are going to be presented.

 

More than 50 people will represent Ukraine at the Vilnius Book Fair: authors, illustrators, public figures, publishers, and representatives of government institutions. Among them are members of the Pictoric illustrators’ club Oleh Hryshchenko and Olena Staranchuk, co-founders of the Agrafka Art Studio Andriy Lesiv and Romana Romanyshyn, authors Kateryna Yehorushkina, Oksana Zabuzhko, Halyna Kruk, Andriy Lyubka, Kateryna Mykhalitsyna, Oleksandr Tereshchenko, Haska Shyian, and Valeriy Markus (remotely). There will be autograph sessions at the Ukrainian stand.

 

On February 24, on the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, at 15:00, there will be a screening of “STRICHKA. A Film Performance from Ukraine” by Yevhen Arlov. The performance is realized with the support of the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House.

Organizers of the stand: Lithuanian Exhibition Center “Litexpo”, Lithuanian Institute of Culture, Lithuanian Publishers Association, Ukrainian Book Institute, Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania, Book Arsenal, Lithuanian Institute of Culture, Pictoric illustrators club and Agrafka Art Studio. Book Arsenal, Lithuanian Institute of Culture and Ukrainian Book Institute participated in the organization of the events.

 

Vilnius International Book Fair is the largest book fair in the Baltic States, which has been held since 2000 and attracts more than 65,000 visitors every year.
