Peter Ford, Former British Foreign Office diplomat and freelance photographer for the Associated Press, presents a book with unique photographs of Kyiv from 1996-1999.

The collection of 300 photographs will be called “Kyiv — Moments in Time”. Peter Ford is financing its publication himself.

“These people I worked with are suffering [in war today]. I just thought ‘what can I do’?” Ford explained to the BBC.

In the introduction to his book the well-known Ukrainian photographer and former AP colleague Efrem Lukatsky, described the “huge in stature” photographer as a “conspicuous” and memorable figure on the city’s streets.

“Little has been preserved in photographs of that period of Ukrainian life, and Peter’s works are an invaluable contribution to the history of Ukraine,” Efrem Lukatsky wrote.

Ford will donate the proceeds from the sale to charity. The profits will go to the Rotary Club in Walsall to help deliver medicines to Ukraine.

As a reminder, the reputable Dutch online media about contemporary photography LensCulture included the Ukrainian book “MYPH – Images from the Mykolaiv Young Photography School” in the list of the most favorite publications of 2022.
