In France, a fund has been established to translate Ukrainian works into French in order to popularize Ukrainian literature. This was announced by the Minister of Culture of France Rima Abdul-Malak.

“We have created a fund that will help translate Ukrainian into French. In this way, Ukrainian literature will be popularized in France. At the same time, we plan to popularize French literature in Ukraine through translations. In particular, we have recently financed the translation of French literature into Ukrainian. The first books will be handed over to libraries today,” she said.

The minister also said that support for artists who have found temporary refuge in France and those who have remained working in Ukraine will continue. Abdul-Malak reminded that preservation of cultural and historical monuments and support for filmmakers remain among the main areas of assistance to Ukraine.

“We have launched the European Fund for Ukrainian Cinema to support Ukrainian producers, directors, and help create contemporary films about Ukraine and with the participation of Ukraine. The call for projects is open until mid-March,” the minister emphasized.

Ukrainian Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko noted that cultural cooperation between the two countries has been going on for a thousand years, and it is particularly relevant now.

“I am sincerely grateful for the support of France — from preserving cultural heritage, supporting our filmmakers to fighting disinformation,” Tkachenko added.

Earlier, a bilingual anthology of Ukrainian poetry was published in France.
