The russian occupiers of Melitopol want instruction in schools to be in russian starting next month, says Mayor Ivan Fedorov.

«Today (March 23) russian soldiers are going around to all the schools and persuading teachers to teach some unclear curriculum in russian starting April 1», – Fedorov said.

The mayor added that he always saw unity among educators and education administrators in Melitopol and expressed his support for the teachers.

Learning resumed in certain regions of Ukraine on March 14, 2022.

Education Minister Serhii Shkarlet announced this week that more than 10,000 secondary schools in Ukraine are working online and that some 3 million students have resumed their studies.

The Ministry of Education and Science together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Ukrainian Institute have launched the All-Ukraine School Online – a platform for distance and mixed learning.

In other news, the russians have begun removing and destroying Ukrainian fiction and history books that don’t coincide with kremlin propaganda from libraries in temporarily occupied parts of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
