The poet Artem Dovhopolyi died at the frontline

28-year-old Ukrainian poet and soldier Artem Dovhopolyi was killed in action in Donetsk region. This has been announced by the philologist and scholar Serhii Piatachenko on his Facebook account.

Artem was born in the town of Konotop in Sumy region in 1994. He graduated from Hryhorii Hulianytskyi Comprehensive School of I-III Stages № 7 in Konotop. After 9th grade, he entered Konotop Institue of Sumy State University majoring in Railway and Track Equipment. Later he studied in Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport in Kharkiv.

 

Following graduation, he’d been serving under contract in State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in the town of Krasnopillia up to February 13. 11 days before russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine, Artem’s contract had expired. But he volunteered in the 58th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

His poems were published in poetry collections Young Konotop (2009) and Sources of Inspiration (2013).

 

“Artem was a wonderful poet, winner of various literary competitions, participated in Konotop literary studio Sources. In 2015 he became one of the winners in a regional contest for young writers. And it was a pleasure for me to feature his works in the collection Orpheus-2015,” wrote Piatachenko.

 

It shall be reminded that the soldier and poet Glib Babich was killed in action.

 

As been reported before, during the counteroffensive of Ukrainian Army the translator of Plomin publishing house, historian and publicist Serhii Zaikovskyi died. And as a result of russian shellings the founder of Orientir publishing house Mykola Kravchenko was killed.
