Ukrainian publishers will be the exhibitors at International Book Fair in Krakow for the first time. This was announced on the event’s website.

The joint Ukrainian stand Barnabus Books UA, organised by the eponymous bookstore, will be located at spot C84 at Krakow Expo-Center.

There will be presented the books from Ukrainian publishers, such as Chas Maystriv, Old Lion Publishing House, Chytarium, Nebo Booklab Publishing and ASSA Publishing House.

In addition, there will be the meetings with writers Yuliia Berezhko-Kaminska, Mia Marchenko, Olha Kupriian, Kvitka Nelada, Tania Piankova, autograph sessions, poetic performances.

“For six consecutive years, when visiting Krakow Book Fair I’ve been dreaming for Ukrainian books to be presented here one day. Especially considering huge Ukrainian diaspora and high interest in Ukrainian literature. Now I’m happy my dream has come true,” Mila Radchenko, the head of European branch of the publishing house Chas Maystriv and co-organiser of the stand, told the Literary newspaper.

International Book Fair in Krakow will take place on October 27-30.

This year has been declared the year of Romanticism, marking the 200th anniversary of the first edition of the Ballads and Romances by Adam Mickiewicz, which is commonly accepted as the beginning of the Romantic period in Poland.

The motto of the 25th fair is Mickiewicz’s quote: Trzeba mi nowych skrzydeł, nowych dróg potrzeba…” (“I need new wings, new paths…”).

It shall be reminded that in May this year Oksana Zabuzhko received an honorable award of 2022 Warsaw Book Fair IKAR.
