The CEO of Vivat Publishing called for the following actions in an open letter following the May 23 attack on the Faсtor-Druk printing plant in Kharkiv: spread the news about the tragedy internationally, cease collaboration with any Russian entity, and make donations that support Ukraine.

The attack resulted in seven fatalities and 22 injuries. 50,000 books were destroyed, including school textbooks and children’s literature.

The attack occurred one week before the International Arsenal Book Festival in Kyiv. One of Ukraine’s most notable literary events, Arsenal features an important nationwide book fair in which Factor-Druk usually participates.

“We are confident that this tragedy will not leave anyone in the civilized world indifferent. The destruction of books leads to a decline in societal morale. Spread the news and help Ukraine in the fight!” wrote Yulia Orlova Vivat’s CEO.

Orlova also called for donations to medical charities supporting those impacted by the conflict and the Ukrainian army. She noted that the “Factor” group of companies initiated a fundraiser earlier to support war victims and help restore Ukraine’s printing industry.
