On September 28, Ukrainian military and journalist Yurii Leliavskyi was killed in action. This was reported by the Air Assault Force Command on Facebook.

In civil life he’s been working with various national TV channels and media outlets. In 2014-2015 Yurii was covering the events in the East of Ukraine and was captured by pro-russian militants of self-proclaimed republics.

In 2022 being a reserve officer, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the positions of the chief of the press service and PR service of the 10 mountain assault brigade and the 80 separate air assault brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Captain Leliavskyi met russian full-scale aggression against Ukraine on the South of the country where his military unit was conducting combat operations. He always was on the frontline, covering the fight and was among the first to enter liberated towns and villages of Ukraine,” goes in the post of the Air Assault Force Command.

They also say Yurii was shooting air assault, artillery and demining engineering units in action: “He would carry out the tasks alongside the military. That earned him respect among the brigade. His materials were used by local and foreign media”.

It shall be reminded that in Donetsk region, the cameraman Dmytro Shypovskyi who was defending Ukraine as a soldier of Ukrainian Army died.

It’s also been reported earlier that in seven months of the full-scale war russia has committed 454 crimes against journalists and media in Ukraine.
