Six Ukrainian research institutes and universities among the best in the world

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has released the 2022-2023 edition of its Global 2000 list of the world’s top universities. 

The Global 2000 list of the 2,000 best universities includes 6 from Ukraine: Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (1120), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (1472), Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1709), V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1740), Institute for Scintillation Materials (1898), and N.N. Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1899).   

 

«Despite the difficulties caused by the hostilities of the russian federation, our educators and scientists continue to work. We certainly have something to be proud of. We are proving that we are competitive in the international arena, and achievements in science make the state strong in all areas», — said Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet.

 

41 russian universities and research institutions also made the list.

Russian occupation forces have completely destroyed Karazin University in Kharkiv. Some buildings of Mariupol State University have also been destroyed or burned, the rest have been looted. 

 

Five universities in Ukraine have been evacuated to other cities: Mariupol State University, Kharkiv Biotechnology University, Chernihiv Polytechnic, Luhansk State Medical University and Donetsk National Technical University
