In Izyum, one of the streets will be renamed in honor of Volodymyr Vakulenko, a children’s writer killed by the occupiers. Deputy Mayor of Izyum, Volodymyr Matsokin, announced this on his Facebook page.

“Volodymyr was not an easy person, sometimes it seemed that he was a “man without skin”. Intolerant of injustice, sensitive, uncompromising, patriotic, with strong charisma, always and everywhere with his son. It’s so surreal to kill a children’s writer, the father of a sick child. It’s so animalistic. Pigs. The damned russian world in all its diabolical glory. This is a painful loss,” he wrote and promised that there would be a street named after the writer in Izyum.

In a comment to Suspilne, Matsokin said that the issue of renaming the street is planned to be resolved within a month.

Volodymyr Vakulenko is a public figure, a participant in the Revolution of Dignity, and the author of 13 books. He is known as Volodymyr Vakulenko-K. He was killed during the occupation of Kharkiv region. The writer was kidnapped at the end of March.

As reported, the Old Lion Publishing House will republish Vakulenko’s “Daddy’s Book” and transfer the collected funds to the writer’s family.
