russia is deliberately attacking Ukrainian cultural sites – Ukrainian Ambassador to the US 

The russia army is deliberately destroying Ukraine’s cultural heritage, Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova said during a television marathon.  

Her statement was based on analysis of satellite images by the US Department of State.  

«These aren’t random hits. The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and US Department of State are analyzing all the satellite maps and very clearly tracking the special attack on universities and museums», — said Markarova.  

She added that the United States can help Ukraine not only preserve cultural heritage, but also keep track of what russia has already destroyed or damaged. 

• As of May 27, there have been 367 recorded russian war crimes against cultural heritage. 
• As of April, more than 160 cultural heritage sites had been damaged or destroyed.
• According to UNESCO, at least 53 cultural heritage sites in Ukraine have been damaged or partially destroyed.
