В Україні закликають ігнорувати російські мальописи

У мережі опублікували відкритого листа з проханням бойкоту російських коміксів. Про це на своїй фейсбук-сторінці повідомила Марина Дубина, перекладачка, головна редакторка спеціалізованого на коміксах видавництва «Боривітер».

«У рамках боротьби проти російського всього і за курс рубля по 200, ми зі спільнотою читач/ок коміксів і професіонал/ок коміксового сегмента видавничого ринку опублікували відкритого листа до своїх колег і друзів по всьому світу. Просимо розірвати всі зв’язки з росією на знак підтримки України, припинити читати російські комікси, публічно засудити російську агресію», — зазначила вона.

У листі українські видавці коміксів, автори, перекладачі, редактори, ілюстратори, набирачі, блогери та читачі закликають припинити підтримку Росії. Також вони повідомили, що відчувають провину за колишню позицію «культури поза політикою».

«Культура є величезною частиною економіки, навіть якщо вона лише внутрішня. Отже, ліцензуючи свою власність для публікації на російському ринку, ви спонсоруєте російську армію. Ви спонсоруєте вбивство дітей (16 на сьогодні) і переміщення людей (тисячі й тисячі)», — зазначили в листі.

Тож українська комікс-спільнота вимагає у світу: 

• Не купуйте російські комікси.

• Не продавайте свої комікси російським видавцям чи розповсюджувачам.

• Не пишіть, не робіть ілюстрацій та не працюйте іншим чином з російськими видавництвами.

• Не беріть участі в заходах, організованих Росією, і не запрошуйте російських учасників на свої.

• Припиніть усі економічні зв’язки з Росією.

• Висловіть свою позицію. Приєднуйтесь до організацій, які це вже зробили: Франкфуртський, Лондонський та Болонський книжкові ярмарки, які призупинили участь російських національних стендів у своїх заходах.

• Читайте перевірені джерела новин (головна порада:  це ті, що називають війну Росії в Україні її справжнім іменем — «війною», а не «конфліктом») і знайдіть способи підтримати Україну у будь-який спосіб, який вважаєте відповідним.

Ukrainian Comics Community calls to stop supporting Russia

We are Ukrainian comics publishers, authors, translators, editors, illustrators, typesetters, enthusiasts, bloggers and readers. For the past 6 days, our lives have been disrupted by an unprovoked and violent full-scale war that Russia has launched on Ukraine and its people. 

Russian missiles have killed hundreds of civilians and destroyed hundreds of homes, not to mention critical infrastructure, like the numerous kindergartens, schools, hospitals and perinatal centres, administrative buildings, the Kyiv TV tower and Babyn Yar Holocaust memorial that were attacked on 1 March. Many of our community are hiding in bomb shelters or fleeing our cities, not knowing what will await us upon our return. Some have taken up arms and joined the Armed forces of Ukraine or their local Territorial Defence. Comics are the last thing on our minds right now, there has been no work, there has been no reading. There has certainly been no buying of comics. 

Art always has its place in every person’s life, and for the past 8 years, since the Russian occupation and illegal annexation of Crimea and invasion of Donbas, even those of us displaced by Russia’s actions found the chance to admire the work of authors, artists, letterers, publishers and everyone involved in comic production from many countries all over the world. However, we can do it no more. Our comic collections are getting bombed, our livelihoods are getting destroyed, our people are being rid of their homes and lives. 

The only reason Russia is in the position to be doing this is economic cooperation, business from other countries, especially the global West. 

Ukraine, we had been guilty of saying “culture is outside politics” — but not anymore. Culture is a huge part of economics, even if just internal. So by licensing your properties to publish within the Russian market, you’re sponsoring the Russian Army. You’re sponsoring children being murdered (16 to date) and people being displaced (thousands and thousands). 

So we urge the global comic community to #StandWithUkraine and publicly deplore Russian aggression. We urge publishers and anyone reading this letter to stop collaborating and in any way supporting Russia. 

Do not buy Russian comics. 

Do not sell your comics to Russian publishers or distributors. 

Do not write, make art or otherwise work for Russian publishers.

Do not take part in Russian-organised events or invite Russian participants to yours.

Stop all economic connections with Russia. 

Make your stance known. Join organisations that have already done so: namely, the Frankfurt, London and Bologna Book Fairs that have suspended the participation of Russian national stands in their events.

Do read verified news sources (top tip: ones that call the Russian war in Ukraine what it is, not a ‘conflict’) and find ways to support Ukraine in any way you see fit.
