20 journalists killed by russians since start of full-scale war against Ukraine

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) has compiled a list of media workers who have died during russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. 

Russian occupation forces have killed 20 journalists, including cameramen, reporters and correspondents: 

 

  • Pierre Zakrzewski —FoxNews cameraman
  • Oleksandra Kuvshynova — photographer, worked in the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, NGO KRAI
  • Oleksandr Lytkin — correspondent of dtp.kiev.ua
  • Pavlo Li — voiceover actor, host of TV channel Dom
  • Serhiy Pushchenko  — member of the National Academy of Journalists, Honored Artist of Ukraine, author of the project Kobzar of the Front
  • Yevhen Sakun — TV channel LIVE cameraman
  • Brent Renaud — journalist for HBO, NBC, Discovery, PBS, NYTimes and ViceNews, director
  • Aksana Baulina — journalist for The Insider
  • Dilierbek Shakirov — community journalist for the information weekly Around You
  • Viktor Diedov — cameraman for channel Sigma
  • Viktor Dudak — journalist with the newspaper Expres
  • Lilia Humianova — journalism professor 
  • Yuriy Oliynyk — Channel 24 cameraman
  • Oleh Yakunin — editor-in-chief of Afisha.zp and misto.zp.ua
  • Maksym Levin — photographer, documentary photographer
  • Mantas Kvedaravicius— director, documentary filmmaker
  • Serhiy Zayikovsky — publicist, historian, translator
  • Denys Kotenko — press service of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine
  • Yevhen Bal — journalist, writer, volunteer, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the National Union of Writers of Ukraine
  • Roman Nezhyborets — video engineer at TV channel Dytynets

 

«This war spares no one: it takes the lives of soldiers, civilians, media workers… The russians are committing genocide – killing everyone in their way, regardless of age, sex, nationality or profession», — the NUJU said.   

 

Since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the aggressor country has committed at least 74 crimes against representatives of the media.
