A collection of Ukrainian writing was published in the USA

The collection Voices of Freedom: Contemporary Writing From Ukraine was published in the USA, which includes poetry, short stories, and essays of Ukrainian authors translated into English. This is reported by the Associated Press.

The editors of the anthology were Kateryna Kazimirova and Daryna Anastasieva. A team of translators from Ukraine and the USA worked on the publication. The book was published by the independent family publishing house 8th & Atlas Publishing.

The collection includes the works of Ihor Kalynets, Yuri Izdryk, Yuri Andrukhovych, Oksana Zabuzhko, Ivan Malkovych, Volodymyr Rafeyenko, Ivan Andrusiak, Taras Prokhasko, Serhiy Zhadan, Svitlana Povalyaeva, Halyna Kruk, Lyuba Yakimchuk, Olena Herasymyuk, Iya Kiva, Stanislav Aseyev, Kostiantyn Moskalets, Lyubko Deresh, Tamara Duda (Tamara Gorikha-Zernya), Pavlo Korobchuk, Olena Stiazhkina, Vasyl Makhno, Oksana Lutsyshyna and others.

“Voices of Freedom: Contemporary Writing From Ukraine is a collection of Ukrainian writing that aims to introduce the English-speaking world to some of the most iconic living writers whose work is shaping contemporary Ukraine. These are leading intellectuals and moral authorities for the Ukrainian people, whose voices and opinions have helped to synchronize the internal compasses of Ukrainian society in the struggle for the freedom of their country. Through poetry, short stories, and essays, this collection demonstrates that the desire for freedom and the struggle to achieve it is a theme that cuts across generations of Ukrainian writers, and is a central preoccupation of Ukrainian society,” as said on the website of the publishing house.

Proceeds from the sale of this collection will support the cultural community and humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, namely Razom for Ukraine or Hospitallers Medical Battalion.

We would like to remind you that this fall, a novel by Volodymyr Rafeyenko, a poetry collection by Vasyl Makhno, and a book of poetry by Kateryna Kalytko were translated and published in the USA.

Also in the USA, with the Chytomo’s support, an anthology of Ukrainian poetry “Sunflowers: Ukrainian Poetry on War, Resistance, Hope and Peace” was created.
